Renowned Bangladeshi artist Mahfuzur Rahman participated in an exhibition organised at Dubai to mark the 50th National Day of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), becoming the first Bangladeshi to have attended such a high-profile show.
Under Funun Arts Group a hundred paintings of 100 artists from 50 nations were exhibited at the show titled ‘UAE: Spirit of the Union’ hosted in Novotel World Trade Centre on November 28 under the patronage of Suhail Mohammed Al Zarooni, Chairman of Zarooni Foundation and the Zarooni Group of Companies.
The art exhibition was organised as part of the celebration of ‘50th SPIRIT OF THE UNION- 50th National Day of UAE’.
Among the 100 artists, Bangladeshi creative impressionist Mahfuzur Rahman has been recognised in the UAE after two of his paintings were chosen to be displayed at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX) art event at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
About his recent painting titled ‘Pride & Prejudice’, the artists explained in his painting, “When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures bristling with prejudice and motivated by pride and vanity. The seed of prejudice exist; will it ever leave! I wish we can get to the root of it; right down to the seed. The seed of prejudice exist; will it ever cease! It needs to be destroyed; it needs to be released."
“Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man... It is the comparison that makes you proud: the pleasure of being above the rest. Once the element of competition is gone, pride is gone.”
Shiba Khan, artist and Founder of Funun Arts shared her views by saying, “UAE is the most colourful place in the world where we can see so many different nationalities from around the globe living together in love and harmony. This is like a garden with so many beautiful and different flowers. And at this Golden Jubilee celebration, it is the best time to salute this great nation. And as an artist and founder of the art group, I always feel that art is the best way to express oneself. 100 artists from 50 different nationalities are the best example to experience the strength of this three-lettered word ART.”
Farah Khan, creative designer, and photographer said. “Art, a simple three-lettered word, has a broad definition. From photography, music, dance to painting, everything is a genre of art. Creating something without words, something that speaks to people, art is a language of its own. We see art every day but how we see it is different.”
His Excellency said, “We can see a variety of work and the expressive way of artists through their paintings. Each artwork narrates a story that is well explained by an artist and felt by the viewer. We are experiencing the whole world under one roof. It is like bringing the colours of the world on one canvas.”
Ahmed Al Awadhi, an artist and businessman, known as Mr. Rukni in art fraternity said, “Art is one of the main means of communication that can connect the world and it allows people from different cultures and different times to communicate with each other via images, sounds and stories.”
